First Annual Iowa Virtual Human Summit

Iowa Virtual Human Summit

The University of Iowa Technology Institute (ITI) invites you to the 1st annual Iowa Virtual Human Summit, 7:30-12 p.m. on Aug. 12. Held virtually, the event focuses on gaps in body armor and personal protective equipment (PPE) designed for women.

For too long, women in the line of duty have relied on PPE designed for men, sacrificing safety, performance, and comfort. Legislation proposed by a bipartisan coalition of congressional leaders would address the need, making this an ideal time to convene national stakeholders. UI President Bruce Harreld will provide opening remarks.

Internationally recognized as an innovator in human modeling and simulation, ITI is home to Sophia, the only digital twin for female soldiers, and virtual counterpart Santos. A virtual human - a digital twin – can play an important role in testing and validating new PPE.
