While health equity is well defined and in many instances practiced, we in the neurodevelopmental disability space lag far behind because we have not defined and delineated exactly what it means in our field. We also cannot truly address health equity without focusing on health disparities and known outcomes of inequities, including those attributed to race. This presentation will offer a definition of health equity, describe a framework for addressing disparities, and delineate the role of cultural and linguistic competence in our collective efforts to achieve health equity in neurodevelopmental disabilities.
