Donate unwanted items while moving out of the residence halls during the Pop-up Donation Drop.  Multiple temporary drop-off locations will be available Thursday, May 13 through Saturday, May 15.

UI Residence Hall Drop-off Options:

Thursday, May 13

  • Donation Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Location: Mayflower Residence Hall in the parking lot on the north side of the building (1110 N Dubuque St, Iowa City)

Friday, May 14

  • Donation Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Locations:
    • East Campus: T. Anne Cleary walkway on the east side of the Chemistry Building (230 N Madison Street, Iowa City) 
    • West Campus: Hillcrest Hall on the northwest side of the building (100 Hillcrest Hall, 25 Byington Rd, Iowa City)

Saturday, May 15

  • Donation Time: 9 a.m. to noon
  • Locations: 
    • East Campus: T. Anne Cleary walkway on the east side of the Chemistry Building (230 N Madison Street, Iowa City) 
    • West Campus: Hillcrest Hall on the northwest side of the building (100 Hillcrest Hall, 25 Byington Rd, Iowa City)

What materials can I donate or recycle? 

  • Donate items that are clean and in good condition: 
    • Furniture
    • Household items (dishes, storage, etc.)
    • Clothing
    • Washable bedding
    • Working, small electronics & appliances
    • Counter-top microwaves
    • Donate Unopened, Non-Perishable Food 
      • Unopened food items, such as canned or boxed food, can be donated and will be given to local food pantry organizations. 
    • Recycle Old Batteries 
      • All types of batteries are accepted at no cost. Please keep all batteries separate from donation materials and place in battery-specific collection container. 
    • Do NOT Donate: 
      • Broken, dirty, or damaged items
      • Wet items
      • Mattresses/box springs
      • Exercise equipment
      • Humidifiers
      • Futons
      • Hazardous material or chemicals
      • Toiletries or hygiene items
      • Refrigerators
      • Pillows
      • Non-washable bedding (e.g., mattress pads)
      • Box TVs
