Children with mild hearing loss: a case of clinical equipoise

Abstract: Children with mild hearing loss are being identified at younger ages than in the past; however, there is uncertainty in the research and clinical communities regarding the impact of hearing loss in the mild range on developmental outcomes. As a result, there is a lack of consensus on whether these children will benefit from intervention or amplification. The goal of this talk is to describe current knowledge on best practices for diagnosis and intervention for the current generation of children with mild hearing loss. The knowledge and clinical tools discussed this talk will enhance our ability to make evidence-based decisions about intervention for children with mild hearing loss and improve developmental outcomes for these children.
