“Design Methods and Process in Contemporary Binding”

In coordination with the "Hidden Collections" exhibit, the UI Center for the Book will host a lecture and demonstration with visiting artist Sol Rébora. Rébora will conduct a talk and open discussion on her work in design binding entitled “Design Methods and Process in Contemporary Binding” on Friday, February 11, with a lecture at 11:00 a.m., followed by a demonstration at 2:00 p.m. in 2032 of the University of Iowa Main Library. Attendees are also invited to attend virtually via Zoom

Sol Rébora is a renowned design binder working in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a well-recognized practitioner, receiving awards both in Argentina and abroad. Her work encompasses innovative and experimental work in designer binding and contemporary conservation methods. She studied with Deborah Evetts, Monique Lallier, Pascale Therond, Edwin Heim, and Sün Evrard, among other teachers, and participated in the Society of Bookbinders-Education Training International Conferences in 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2009. She currently works and teaches courses out of her studio in addition to giving lectures and workshops at centers including the SF Center for the Book.
