 a Lecture and Demonstration with Visiting Artist Sol Rébora

The UI Center for the Book is honored to welcome renowned design binder Sol Rébora to Iowa City. Ms. Rébora will conduct a lecture and open discussion on her work in design binding. Following the lecture, she will offer a demonstration of specific on-lay techniques she has developed in her practice. The lecture and demonstration will be held in room 2032 of the University of Iowa Main Library and will also be accessible via Zoom. There will be a break for lunch. Attendees are welcome to attend one or both of these events.

Sol Rébora is a design binder working in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a well-recognized practitioner, receiving awards both in Argentina and abroad. Her work encompasses innovative and experimental work in designer binding and contemporary conservation methods. She studied with Deborah Evetts, Monique Lallier, Pascale Therond, Edwin Heim, and Sün Evrard, among other teachers and participated in the Society of Bookbinders-Education Training International Conferences in 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2009. She currently works and teaches courses out of her studio in addition to giving lectures and workshops at centers including the SF Center for the Book.addition to lectures and workshops at centers including the San Francisco Center for the Book.
