Iowa River Cleanup
The 2017 Iowa River Cleanup challenges volunteers to remove trash from the river sandbars and bed along a 9.5 mile stretch from Iowa City to Hills, either by canoe or walking.
We also need people to help us sort and recycle the trash on land. There's a job for everyone who wants to get dirty and help the environment. Those interested in walking should meet at noon on Sept. 16 at Hills Access, a park located next to the river, about a half mile east of Hills on 520th Street.
All volunteers must sign-up in advance online at www.iarvcp.org. A limited number of canoes are available when you register. If you have your own canoe, join the launch at 7:30 a.m.
This event is a National Rivers Clean-up Sanctioned Event and is being organized by the City of Iowa City, Coralville and North Liberty, as well as the Iowa Flood Center and the Johnson County Conservation Board.
