Microbiology Professional Careers Panel

Learn about working in academia and pursuing a scientific career from microbiologistsfrom diverse backgrounds and career stages.
Our panelists include:

Dr. Pearl Chan – Postdoctoral Scholar in Dr. Stanley Perlman’s lab, researching host-pathogen interactions in SARS, MERS, and SARS-CoV-2 infections.

Calyssa Huff – Research Intern in the ICARE Post-baccalaureate Program, working in Dr. Jessica Tucker’s lab on tRNA dysregulation in herpesvirus-infected cells.

Dr. Jana Radin – Associate Research Scientist with Dr. Thomas Kehl-Fie, studying the impact of pathogen starvation on Staphylococcus aureus infection. Dr. Radin is also an instructor for General Microbiology.

Fernando Santana – First-year graduate student in the Microbiology Graduate Program.

Parker Smith – Research Assistant and Lab Manager in Dr. Mary Weber’s lab, which studies Chlamydia trachomatis and Orientia tsutsugamushi host cell invasion.
