Getting started with Linux Command Line on Argon (Zoom)

This workshop is geared toward UI researchers who are not familiar with the Linux command line environment. It covers essential and fundamental Linux shell commands to help users develop their ways of Linux master. This workshop will NOT cover advanced commands and shell scripts. Prior coding and Linux experience are not required. Doosoo Yoon in the ITS Research Services team will lead this workshop.

It will be lectured by Doosoo Yoon from Research Services and will include hands-on trainings.

The topics to be covered include:

  • Basic usage of Linux commands on a super-computing cluster
    • Navigation
    • File Management
    • File Transfer
  • Editing text files on the Linux system
    • Writing simple shell scripts
