U.S. Constitution Day
Sep 17, 2019
11:30 AM - 01:00 PM
Old Capitol Museum, Rain venue: Hubbard Commons, 1st floor, Iowa Memorial Union
21 North Clinton Street, Iowa City, IA 52240
Why do we celebrate a piece of paper that's more than 230 years old? The Constitution is at the core of how we think, act, and govern as Americans, and you are encouraged to think about how the U.S. Constitution plays an important role in daily life.
This year marks the 232nd anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution. To honor this occasion, U.S. Army Cadets will read the document on the east side of the Old Capitol on the Pentacrest between 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. In the event of rain, it will be relocated to the Hubbard Commons inside the east door of the Iowa Memorial Union (IMU).
We wish to thank U.S. Representative Dave Loebsack for providing free pocket-sized copies of the U.S. Constitution, which will be available while supplies last, at the following locations: Main Library Service Desk, Hardin Library, and Java House (211 E. Washington St).
