Digging for Railroad History Public Archaeology Project
Join the Sioux City Railroad Museum and Office of the State Archaeologist as we investigate the site of historical worker camps. From 1916-18, these camps were home to Italian laborers and others who built the railroad terminal. There are several half-day volunteer slots available for sign-up, don't miss this opportunity to experience what archaeology fieldwork is like!
School-age youth, undergraduate and graduate students, and adults of all ages are encouraged to volunteer. Members of the public are welcome to observe the fieldwork any time from April 21-26!
