The National Lawyers Guild holds an annual event called the Week of Abolition (formerly the Week Against Mass Incarceration). Each year, the event is held the first full week of March; this year the WoA falls on March 3, through March 9. There is also a different theme each year highlighting a different issue of criminal justice. The theme this year centers on Political Prisoners.

As the main event for the WoA, the NLG @ Iowa Law is hosting a panel on Political Prisoners to highlight political prisoners, provide some background information on their circumstances, and discuss the struggles faced by political prisoners and the systemic corruption that allows the unjust detention of individuals for political gain.

Lunch will be served, as available.
Please RSVP for the event by Friday, March 1, 2024!
